surreyfootballcoachesassociation-thumb-41bcrmrl7sjp6[1]The Association was formed in 1965 by Bill Whittaker, the then Surrey FA County Coach. The founding committee, which included Bobby Robson, formed the Association for coaches to gain and share knowledge & experiences for their coaching roles.

In the following years many prominent Surrey based coaches, including Dave Bassett, Keith Blunt, Alan Gillett, Dario Gradi, Gordon Jago, Roy Hodgson, Bob Houghton, Lennie Lawrence, Ted Powell & Alan Smith continued that mutual ethos and this remains a key benefit to members of the Association to this day!

We are very proud of this fantastic heritage and we continue to promote coach development in Surrey and the surrounding areas. Membership of the SFCA delivers the following benefits:

1) We hold monthly practical coaching sessions led by top quality professional coaches, which are free of charge to attend and observe, thereby delivering the opportunity for members to further their knowledge by seeing and hearing about new/different coaching methods and ideas.

Details of these sessions are supplied to our members via email. See attached for details of all our sessions since 2004.

We believe attending any of our sessions is invaluable for all coaches who are always looking to further their knowledge & development.

Selected sessions will be accredited CPD events for the FA Licenced Coaches Club, providing recognised CPD for LCC members.

2) We regularly receive requests from clubs and organisations seeking coaches, which we are made available to members via the members only area of our website. All work found through this route is independent of the SFCA.

3) We work in partnership with Surrey County FA which brings mutual benefits. For members of the SFCA this has included advance information on coaching courses, free tickets for Grassroots Football Live, free Emergency Aid & Safeguarding Children workshops, free Futsal courses and exclusive coaching resources.

4) The SFCA have established links with the Coaches Associations of Hampshire, Kent, London, Middlesex and Sussex, where we have an arrangement with each of them for our members to attend their sessions.

Details of their sessions are passed on to members via email and we look forward to continuing to be part of this wider coaching community.

We have members at all coaching levels, from Level 1 to Pro Licence, working in grassroots, coach education and right up to the top of the professional game. We believe the SFCA offers a valuable and varied service to new and existing coaches in Surrey and the surrounding areas for coaching opportunities, coaching involvement and coach development.
